Pitchers Weight Rating, or PWR, is an Efficiency based statistic that runs off of 6 commonly counted statistics. The stat takes heavy emphasis on run prevention, as putting your team in a position to win games is what the entirety of baseball comes down to. There is also a high emphasis on k/9, as being able to strike batters out is a measure of how effective you are in a statistical vacuum. Similarly, the ballplayer's ability to limit walks and hits, or controllable baserunners, is weighted. And finally, value is detracted for home runs against on an innings basis. Home runs are a de-facto loss for the pitcher, with rarely any luck or chance in the matter.
